Yoga = to Yoke
Pose = Balasana (Child’s Pose)
Yoga, it’s what we do, it’s who we are, and it’s been around for 5,000 years (some scholars even suggest it’s been with us for 10,000). Within that 5,000+ year history are 4 different periods of innovation, practice and development, the Vedic, Pre-Classical, Classical & Post-Classical. That’s right– yoga has been on a forward moving trajectory since the beginning. It evolved over time and with the influence of different practitioners. We move forward too, one mindful breath at a time.
Buddhi Mat Power Yoga has only been around for 5+ years, but in the modern yoga community that’s not too shabby, indeed we’re proud of our presence in the Ridgefield Community during this past half-decade. That said, we respect the fact that even over the course of 5 years things can change. And just like the many observant yogis and yoginis who went before us, we have embraced the idea that change is good, nay– GREAT!
We’re excited to announce the launch of our new website. Yes, you can still find us at www.buddhimatyoga.com. And, yes, you can still use Mind/Body to register for your classes. But now, you’ll find our website, brighter, more colorful and easier to use. The best news?? We’ll be sharing regular Buddhi Blog posts. If it’s going on in yoga, this studio, the local community or the world at large you might just see a post about it here. So–check back regularly! We want your online experience to be as consistent and cohesive as your on-mat experience, please let us know what you think of our new website. (Personally, we’re pretty excited about it). For updates and studio info sign up for Buddhi Mat News below.
Our studio space has also seen some changes– perhaps you’ve noticed the blue wall? (Krishna would be proud). We’ll be continuing to do some small tweaks here and there over the summer months (don’t worry- your regular class schedule will never be interfered with). Expect to see a few more bright and happy cosmetic changes, some new Buddhi Wear and even more fun merchandise ready for your next visit.
While we continue to practice and teach the traditional Power Yoga Vinyasa Flow, we’ll also be adding regular inversion and meditation workshops. If there’s a specialty class you’ll like to see on the schedule, just say the word or better yet, drop a comment in our Buddhi Box at the front desk. You’re our people and we want to hear from you!
Our highly experienced and well-trained veteran staff members will be welcoming some new faces to the fold while we add new class times. Summer is the perfect time to break out of your rut (come, on– admit it, we all fall into them). Give a new class time or instructor a try, you might just find a new slice of sunshine to light up your life and fire up your practice.
Lastly, get ready for exciting partnerships with local businesses like JoyRide, (#getyourbuddhionabike), The Aldrich Museum, (#karmaconnection), and even Cucumber & Chamomile (#buddhitea)! As a long-standing member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Ridgefield Community it’s time to take our own practice to the next level by working with these and many other incredible local vendors. We’re not going anywhere, we’re here to stay and so should you– let us show you how to root your poses in your breath and take that powerful peace out into the world..
Yoga is an ancient practice, but doesn’t mean we need to cling to the past. Inhale new energy and exhale the old at Buddhi Mat Power Yoga.
