Buddhi Mat Yoga is proud of our staff of experienced professionals who fell in love with power yoga and want to share the life-changing effects it has had on them. All our staff members have been trained in the power yoga style and are qualified to assist you in having a safe and positive experience.

Wendy has been at Buddhi Mat since right after our opening in December 2009. She may be practicing next to you in class, checking you in at the front desk and getting you set for practice or teaching a power yoga class. Her role is always to make your experience at Buddhi Mat a good one and her love of people makes this a perfect fit.

Whatever role Wendy is playing, she is enthusiastic about sharing her "yoga". Wendy has always lived an active lifestyle, but became serious about yoga while recovering from a life changing injury and found the meaning of "working in" rather than "working out" through her practice. She was inspired to teach and pass on the gift that she has found in yoga and is thankful for all the opportunities to welcome people to the mat.

Wendy has practiced and trained in a variety of yoga styles but feels most connected to the Power Yoga training she received under Lyn Kehoe.

Melissa began exploring yoga 10 years ago, hoping to find calm amidst the storm of being home all day with 3 kids age 5 and under. Alas, the storm has since passed, but having drunk the Kool-Aid on this journey of growing mind, body and spirit, she is now more deeply committed to practicing and teaching yoga than ever. Melissa believes in authenticity, laughter, and living in integrity. Her Vinyasa style classes are infused with wit and wisdom and taught from the heart with love, compassion, a sense of humor, and with respect for what each individual can accomplish both on and off their mat. Her dream is to inspire and enable people to improve their lives and the world around them.

Melissa graduated from a 200 hour Power Yoga teacher training lead by Lyn Kehoe in 2011 and has since completed workshops with Baron Baptiste, Sean Corne, Bryan Kest, Debbie Williamson, Philip Urso, and Elena Brower. Melissa is also a Certified Teachers Assistant and has trained in and teaches restorative yoga.

Sarah Michaels made a commitment to being healthy and fit in mind and body twenty five years ago. A former dancer and singer in the professional world of musical theater, she made an easy switch to yoga after a knee injury in 1992 ended her dance career. While living in NYC, she has studied with yoga masters Cyndi Lee (OM YOGA), Sharon Gannon and David Life (Jivamukti), Leslie Kamonoff (The Breathing Project) and Baron Baptiste, where she appeared on NBC’s TODAY show yoga segment for Baron’s new book, “My Daddy is Pretzel”. She is 500 hour certified yoga teacher from The White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, CA (expert tutelage of Ganga White and Tracey Rich), with additional certifications in prenatal and postnatal yoga (Yoga for Two) and aerial yoga (OM Factory) in NYC.

Sarah teaches a yoga class that reflects a fusion of her years of diverse yoga training. While she feels it is important to incorporate the yoga traditions that benefit good health and wellness, she incorporates her plethora of experiences to advocate the whole body/mind yoga experience–Vinyasa flow for movement, Iyengar for alignment, and abdominal core focus for centering and strength. As a master teacher, Sarah adds life learning and perspective to a safe, nurturing environment. A writer, a musician, and a yoga teacher for over 18 years, yoga is the one discipline she is committed to that that keeps her centered, happy and present in our ever changing world.

Kerin Whitmore

Kerin has been a student of the martial arts for 16 years and is a teacher and third degree black belt in Tang Soo Do. She started practicing yoga in order to balance the workouts at the dojang. When she discovered Lyn’s studio it opened the doors not only to an unbelievable physical challenge, but a spiritual journey as well. She has been a devoted student ever since.

In 2013 she enrolled into the 200 hour teacher training program at Buddhi Mat and began to realize that welness was not only physica practicel but mental practice as well. In her classes she guides you to move with mindfulness to explore the internal as well as the external aspects of yoga.
